Organic Vineyard Luis Felipe Edwards

ORGANIC VINEYARDS

The White Rose vineyard, so called because of the rose bushes that line the vineyard. The white rose is the iceberg variety and adds a cool note to the wine, many rose bushes are planted as an early warning to disease, but in the growing conditions of the Colchagua dry and warm, disease is very minimal.

LFE has eight hectares of organic grape production; seven of which are Cabernet Sauvignon and the remainder being Carmenère. The vineyard’s location is excellent for growing organic grapes; as there is a warm ripening season with long hot days and cool nights attributed by the influence of the Andes, which results in perfect maturation for the grapes.

The first release 2005 Organic Wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon 95 % and Carmenère 5 %. This project has taken several years to come to fruition, working in the vineyards for more than 3 years to finally be able to say we can produce organic wine, is a great satisfaction to the LFE company. The certification was made by the German company BCS Öko Garantie.

Plans for the future:
The planned production for 2008 is 6,000 cases. The next launch will be an Organic Rosé wine, we do not intend to become totally Organic but we feel it is important to start to increase our production. Organic wines fit in with the balance of our surroundings.
